There's a new kid in town

Hello everyone...
I am brand new here and just wanted to get my blip on y'all's radar screens. I've been reading posts and exploring the site for the last few days and am enjoying it quite a lot. I very recently bought a boat, berthed in San Diego, and I am now back in the mid-west working on wrapping up this life to exchange it for a new one living aboard and setting sail to somewhere.

Welcome aboard.
Any questions, this is where to ask. You will just about always get an answer (some you may not like), just about. Any way good luck

Hi MC and welcome to the forum.

Looks like you got a nice boat. So where you going with it?

Hello skipmac...my plans are at present quite fluid, to say the least. For a start, it will be somewhere to the south, then probably southwesterly. Maybe the Antipodes for a spell, trying to take in all those fabled destinations in between.

Markus, you are right. Fluid is the way on the water😉. San Diego is a great place to start after the Midwest. Happy and safe voyages to you. Remember, adventures can be had where ever you sail near or far.

Thanks Tayana...I appreciate the sentiment. I have been landlocked for too many years now, and the cornfields have lost their appeal. Taking a demanding mistress at this time of my life may be pure stupid, but since she has my heart she may as well have the rest.

Thanks Nick...actually you will probably be blazing the trail. I won't get to CA until early August and then plan to spend a couple of months spending money, I mean installing some perceived necessary gear. Mid-October is when I'm thinking I'll sail.
A little farming town called Altamont. Midway between St. Louis and Terre Haute, IN.

I am not buying a boat till the end of summer, then probably going to spend the entire winter getting it fitted out, I wanted to sail to Hawaii for the 75th anniversary of Pearl, but think I am just going to fly instead as id like to have more experience before the time rolls around to do that.

I run right past you there on I-70 all the time I'm an OTR Truck driver.
