Under 30y.o. and planning a circumnavigation!

Hello forum,

I haven't formally introduced myself yet on the forum. My girlfriend and I are planning a circumnavigation and have been reading this forum from top to bottom for information from real cruisers that could help us.

We're not real cruisers yet... we're couchsailors! Check out our blog couchsailors.com or follow us on https://www.facebook.com/couchsailors as we prepare for our circumnavigation and share our experiences, lessons and mistakes. Please feel free to make constructive comments and advice that could help us along.

We're on a Beneteau 423 based out of Pier 39 in San Francisco. If you're local, please stop by and say "hello"!

Best,
Jose and Gina

Hola and Howdy!

I wish you the best of success on your future trip!

Sailing on SF Bay can prepare you for many things (fog, currents, 20-30kt winds, commercial traffic, reefing for real, anchoring, etc.).

I saw you chose the name "couch sailors" and it made me think of "couch surfers."

Smooth Sailing!

Thanks! Totally true about SF Bay. We just got back from 2 weeks cruising in the Med (Alicante to Mallorca) and say the needle break 20 knots only one day! If we don't get over 20 knots in the Bay, usually something's up...

Thanks for the challenge! The boat has already been bought and the itinerary/departure date set so I hope to make it out of the "wannabee" thread soon

Re: Under 30y.o. and planning a circumnavigation!

Just bookmarked your blog and read a bit of your introduction. I love France too. Now in Burgundy cruising around - not in a boat - but VW campervan. Hopefully, in the not too distant future we'll have some sailboat adventures to share.

What an exciting time this must be for you guys. I wish you the best of luck with your plans and will keep up with on your blog.

Hi,

My advice is to stock on potable water and pasta then cast the lines.

Good luck,
b.
