Just purchased a Valiant 40.Needs some work,but basically sound.I need some conversation with other similar boats.In Hawaii now but planning to head west in a year ur two...any good advice...Thx

I have a 40 I just renovated over the last year. Ask away. Make sure and tell me year, or number, as the config changed slightly over time. These are great boats.

Ok.Thanks Newt.It's a '78.Blistering has not been an issue.It needs some TLC though.I'll have plenty of questions for sure!I head back to the mainland until next winter then back over here to haul out etc...

78 could have some blister issues, sounds like yours does not. Why not sail it over to Cali and haul it out there? Could be a lot cheaper in the long run. I find work up here (Washington) is pretty reasonable, and I have heard the same about boatyards by Napa Valley up some of the rivers from SF bay.
Or if you are really adventurous, maybe taking it down to Mexico for the work...
