Another successful rescue in Queensland

Another rescue, this time with a good outcome for both crew and yacht.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-10-...acht/101521530

Wonder what lead up to such an incident? Conditions rough but not extreme, and a vessel alleged to be very seaworthy.

As best as I can tell, this rescue occurred on Tue 11 Oct 2022. I dunno if there is a more recent update.

Hmm... how in the hell did I miss that? And why did the ABC have it in yesterday's news?

Weird! And sorry to have not noticed before posting here.

Jim we discussed the rescue in another thread back in 2022. When they purchased the yacht I gave them a list of jobs longer than my arm that needed doing. They obviously ignored it and this was the consequence.
Cheers

Fascinating! It is interesting how often folks pay good money for a survey and then ignore the advice they paid for.

I still wonder how the story got into yesterday's "news".

Hi Jim & Ann We used to be moored nxt to you in POW Marina in Scorpio 11. Not all surveys check everything. In hindsight I should have had a very extensive electrical check. Despite many $ spent prior to leaving Hobart we had problems and sadly most due to poor workmanship. Now much wiser & poorer. But enjoying boat life. Craig

Hi Craig,

Thanks for the post... we wondered how you got along after you left.

And sorry that stuff failed you. IIRC there were several doubtful items that were "fixed" by "experts". As they say in the American south when they can't say what they really mean: Well, bless their hearts...

But we all went through that sort of learning process. Those that survived became lifers, enjoying the freedom of our life style, wiser but poorer as you suggest.

SSo, hang in there and enjoy the day.

Jim (and Ann)
