At Least He had Good Weather and a Mountain View !

A sailor who keeps his boat at a dock in our neighborhood tried to leave just a little bit late on an ebb today around 8 AM.
As of 7:30 PM (black dark) he finally got free.
I don't know where he went, but Vessel Assist was trying all day to free him.
You can imagine how well THAT went by looking at these pictures taken at mid morning and around noon.
Low was around 1:30.

A couple of my sailor friends from the neighborhood tried to help him kedge free with halyards, but by the time he agreed to try it was too late. Oh, well...

Thanks to my neighbor Bob for the pics.

I had no idea the entrance there could be so shallow. Another good reason for a multi-hull. At least it would be flat and more comfortable while waiting!

The gravel bar you see in the photo is a temporary phenomenon this time of year due to stormy westerlies. It flattens out after May.
Still, the entrance bottom is basically at zero tide, and it's about 30+ feet wide near the bottom.

Entering under better conditions (at eight knots).
