Re: Cruisers yacht stuck on Gulfport beach in 4 feet of sand

Huge water jets must be pumped on the sandbar, while pulling the boat to sea.

Aw, come on goldipholx, give him the link to show how real professionals did it. Successfully, in the manner it was planned. After all, it IS on TV.

He'd have a blast looking at it.

if you know so much about moving a grounded sailboat why did you not get your a-- out there and offer the water jets. guess you should PM all the people that helped and tell them that they did it wrong.

Re: Cruisers yacht stuck on Gulfport beach in 4 feet of sand

Whoa, please stop this thread, so I can run out and buy some more popcorn. I would like to make a short statement on the matter and I am not trying to be unkind, just realistic. 1st, shouldn’t the title of Captain be awarded to a seaman of some accomplishment? A 7 year old can row a boat, therefore should she be called Capt. Susie for the rest of her days? 2ndly, thousands of boats are beached every year and the skippers quietly and competently handle the matter themselves. And they don’t wear Wall-Mart captain hats. 3rd and last, I sure hope there is a sequel to this (cough, cough) drama. Capt. Jay may become a desirable neighbor, an asset and complement to the sailing community after all ?

Ahh be gentle now. He just did what many of us have done, not read all the damn pages, and pages, and pages, and pages of a given thread before adding his two cents...
