EU Forbids Single Handed Sailing?

Any comments? Is it true?

EU Warns of Hefty Fines for Singlehanded Sailing | YachtPals.com

According to the latest publication of the EU Integrated Maritime Policy, any EU member flagged vessel, or any vessel transiting EU controlled waterways, will be restricted to 12 hours of operation per crew aboard. The fines for not adhering to this law, or for not keeping a detailed log-book of watches, can be up to 100,000€ and/or 1 year in prison.

Followed shortly no doubt that driving automobiles without a passenger will soon be outlawed as well.

Oh, wait, they did this here in California with the car pool lanes!

Seems to me that someone needs to explain to the powers that be, that most folks have auto-pilots these days! Mostly you have someone watching the compass, and the wind conditions, and adjusting sails and such, not to much of self steering anymore !! We stand wheel watchs in harbors and areas of traffic. We even may hand steer if needed, but mostly we use our power steering LOL I think most folks do it this way !! But then maybe Im wrong !! Maybe ?

Have done it 24/3 but was getting really goofy near the end. Now I just go to sleep and let the self steering do its thing or heave to.
