How Many Have Seen St Elmo's Fire

I am curious to know how many have seen St Elmo's Fire?

In my mind there are details about the experience that mark one as being a true sailor and I believe those who have also seen it will agree.

What utter drivel! I am sorry, but not having seen one type of phenomenon or not has nothing to do with being a true sailor. Its just rot, Delancey.

Mark so unromantic!!

I'm not sure I've seen it, but I've seen some spectacular lightning displays and a couple UFOs

I've been sailing for years... I consider myself a true sailor... I've Never seen St Elmo's Fire but I'd rather prefer to see a Mermaid

Re: How Many Have Seen St Elmo's Fire

Since the subject of what defines a true sailor has been touched on vaguely in any number of recent pissing matches and since there seem to be some opinions here about what doesn't define a "true sailor" than maybe someone can tell me what they think does?

I take my goofing around seriously and this is really what the point of my OP is about. Seems like there are lots of opinions about what people do or did that was wrong and I would be really interested to know what people think is right?

Just exactly what is the standard for being regarded as a true sailor? Of course I could have just titled the post that, but where's the fun in that?

Re: How Many Have Seen St Elmo's Fire

OK, so the real question here is:

How many people actually own stiff straw hats with a low flat crown and straight circular brim???

There was this one time, on Sesame Street, when Oscar was playing with matches and . . . . . . . . nah, that's probably not it.
