Hi John...well not to far south of you..Right in La Conner.

A sail on the 4th sounds great...Id like that...I don't know whats going on with everyone else that week end yet so well play it by ear.

Im hoping to get launched mid June but not holding my breath...we've missed every target date so far..Don't even have a slip yet....and well have to see about getting insured again...don't know if Boat US will pick me back up again or not..they wont say till final inspection.

Cap Sante might have some slips your size. Come be my neighbor. I promise not to put sardines in your cockpit so the harbor seals come to visit.

Let us know when the boat hits the water. Hope Island is a possibility. Never been there. Cornet Bay also.

The time before last when I ran aground we were tacking out of a small, shallow marina that needs to be dredged, badly. Like so bad that there are several boats that can no longer leave without a crane. That's not an excuse, it's a description. On board were the head of the local Harbor Patrol, me- a racer, the owner of the sailing center, and a Coastie with tons of small boat search & rescue experience, Plus a hippie and a dwarf. Really.
Right as the captain said "hard a lee", we stopped. Stopped. We were stuck. Bad. We tried back winding the jib to pull the bow around. We tried heeling the boat as I (230#) shimmied out the boom. We tried accepting a pull from a skiff with a 25 horse outboard. We tried a kedge anchor. We were still stuck. We eventually got it out through a simultaneous combination of all of them after 45 minutes.
Everybody goes aground, just not always in such sticky stinky mud as that.
