Here is another reason to rig a whisker pole directly to the sheet rather than to the loop in the bowline at the clew. If caught aback, you can let the sheet run and haul in the new sheet and keep her moving and jibe back around (but not if you have two whisker poles in use, like you might in a dead run situation).
