On or nearby? Either one scary.

I called the Cole bombers father on the phone. At first he denied knowledge then he wanted to know how I got his phone number. He was shocked that I wasn’t FBI or CIA just a PO American who wasn’t pleased.

we sailed in there a few days later on our yacht and went round to the main port to say hi and see if they needed any assistance as i had a few americans onboard ,met the xo and a few of the officers, nice guys. the yemenis were not at all impressed with their bretheren who commited the act on the vessel.
big shame on the world on what is going on there now.

Obviously the carrier did not know that sailboats are always stand-on vessels

Re: Sailboat hits carrier

Hmmmmm. Since Bath Iron Works will probably charge the Pentagon 26.7 million to repair the damaged section of the deck, maybe it's a good time for the hombre to ditch the sloop, give up sailing, and head out for a long 'siesta' south of the border.

Re: Sailboat hits carrier

I think the rule of tonnage would apply here..

You would think that sailing in Dago you would be used to staying away from big Navy ships, just from seeing the big carriers in the background. I don't know how you say to yourself "I think I'll see how close I can sail to the big aircraft carrier". One lesson learned the hard way I guess.

Looks like the mast just lifted off the step. He may have gotten lucky.

Re: Sailboat hits carrier

Yep it's a deckstepped mast.
Pretty talented police boat driver too (not).
Wonder why they did not start cutting the rigging off. Looks like that would be the first thing to do if the hull is not damaged.

But than again, people are probably excited & appauled about what happened to them. Where there are people involved there will always be mistakes to be made.
Wonder if there was a rudder system failure involved.

why harbie boat not help is not their job. the navy patrol boats--not their job. no one seemingly called vessel adrift or towboatscrewus, or seatoad. it is their job. mebbe he called the toad service after the patrol boats left.

Re: Sailboat hits carrier

I was wondering why the crew on the sailboat did not start themselves to get things sorted.
Police will not do that, that's clear.
Still the police boat looks like it's pushing the boat rather rough. But that might be the camera angle.
