richard--at least your formosa wont be spinning off the tops of anything---and only has one hull to worry about. you will do fine--just prepare well.

Richard,

What is the record then? Do you mean the record (shortest) time?

If so, I think it may difficult to beat whatever there already is (the record) sailing a Formosa. You will need an Open 60 as a minimum, or a multi.

Barny,

He is going for first in his country... Depending on the country he could do it in a dingy I guess and be the record holder... But I think Richard is going *somewhat* higher tech than that!

*wondering if there is a list somewhere of nations with SNC's....*

The context of the sentence SNC was used in, I believe it means

SOLO NONSTOP Circumnavigation

Re: Solo Nonstop Circuimnavigation

mebbe the man comes from a place wherein there are no cruising sailors so a formosa might just be the best choice. the gods already know a formosa 41 is less pricey than is a racey boat of any kind. and the keels do not fall off..

Re: Solo Nonstop Circuimnavigation

There lots of authors for the Southern Ocean. One of my favorites is Webb Chiles.

I think your lack of knowledge is what has worried members here. If you sail through 15-18ft. seas. Then obviously you have some experience. Z typed it best, prepare well!

There was alady who prepped her boat for 5 years to round the Hoorn. She was disappointed she had to motor around, but that's not the normal. BEST WISHES in making it happen. Preperation is everything. Well maybe almost everything there's some pretty lucky people out there too........i2f

I want to see the list of SNCTSBATOCF

There's the Jet Ski guy, he made it around, didn't he?
Then the dude who wanted to do it on $15,000 including the price of the boat. I sure he did it.
Do you remember the guy who asked for us to give him a boat? LOL Did someone flip him a 50 footer?
The raft guy who wanted to circ the UK and didn't understand tides. He stopped posting after the Titanic II was rescued.
The McGreggor 26 must have circumnavigated by now.
Sundry 14 footers, etc.
The woman in the Flika 20 who after the biggest send-off inthe world lasted one night! Then tried to sell the tub for $100,000

So Richard, you are doing better than all them

Mark
