I thought you were joking based on his track. Then I read his most recent post. Wow!

Re: Test #1

Just to be clear, I'm not questioning his choices.

But personally, I would have heaved to for a while to burn off those 8 hours and then sailed into the Harbor in the morning. I would not have wanted to go all that way and not celebrate with a beer at one of the famous taverns.

But I can see that he is having a real "Zen" moment out there and doesn't want it to end. Which I totally understand and respect.

There are times it's just too nice to stop.. my first crossing Caribe-UK was so nice I bypassed the Azores.. in spite of the fact I was very low on tobacco...
Ended up 19 days without ciggies and coffee, my two biggest vices..

I'm proud to say, I've been clean for a full year.

But, all these showers, aren't helping me quit smoking.

Forgot to turn of the gas?
Forgot to put out the cat and cancel the paper?

Nope - he just came up against some New Age bollockracy.

El Ping, Darlin',

Wot the HECK are you talking about?! (Or rephrased: what have you been indulging in down there in Ecuador? )

Re: Test #1

ArmySailor didn't post yesterday or today (well, not yet). He's only in 4.5 knots of wind currently, so he just may be enjoying the sailing, but I'm bummed not to read one of posts this morning.

Same here. This has been almost as good as stowing away with him. Can’t believe he would want to anchor in safe harbor to get a good night’s sleep, if nothing else. But I guess if I’ve not been out there, I wouldn’t understand. But one day I will be and then I will.

I'll take a guess at what he meant.

This guy ArmySailor is military.

His whole world is rules and regulations. (in the marines there is a right way and wrong way to lace up your boots for example!)

So possibly after being totally free for a couple weeks then dealing with umpteen million questions (bureaucracy) just to anchor his boat at Bermuda, it seems he was like .......you know what, I have had enough of this already. (The questions and checks etc)

I think I'll just "round the island" and head on back

Plus as he mentioned there was nothing he needed to do on Bermuda he just decided on a offshore destination for his Test#1.

Read his May 26th.
I reckon I would have kept going as well.

See what you mean Ping.. then he gets visited by the friendly CG as a result of being inside the limits as he rounded the island.. one of the reasons I dislike the W Atlantic.. paranoia on steroids..
