Re: Transporting large sailboat over the road, max height

I saw an open 40 on a trailer last year. The keel was off and the hull was canted to accommodate the road width. So it may fit but differently than you might expect

Re: Transporting large sailboat over the road, max height

Similar boat but only 13' beam:
My boat transport had a special lowboy trailer for sailboats. I removed the 60' mast, of course. Also removed the dodger. The transport driver tilted the sailboat slightly to bring the nose down and I did not need to remove pushpit, pulpit, or lifelines to stay under max height.

We are 45' actual length, 13' beam, 6' 5" draft with a keel that is cut away fore and aft.

Re: Transporting large sailboat over the road, max height

UPDATE: I findly got the measurements. The overall hight of my Beneteau Oceanis 46' (keel to top of deck) is 14' 9". This makes shipping over the road doable but more costly. I have decided to ship ocean freight and keep the mast up. Thanks for everyones advice.
