Best vacuum systems?

looking for the best of

vacuum bags for clothes,
vacuum bags for food,
vacuum containers for food.
we have tried a few bags for clothes,
the ones from walmart are junk. they do not stayed sealed, we found an ebay band that works, ok. but you need to be quick, as you take the vacuum off and then try and screw on the lid before air gets in.

what have you tried that works?
we are looking at foodsaver, and ziplock.

Foodsaver all the way.

Use the food saver brand bags.
When hiking I put clothes in them. They come out wrinkled but dry
they have an attachment to allow you to vacuum seal canning jars.
The lids are cheap and easy to carry in bulk. The only time I have had a food saver bag go bad (lose its seal) is when I messed up. You can't put popping corn in them for example. Well you can but you need to double bag it or the tips may poke through the bag.

Use food saver. The miss would use me as a anchor if I tried to remove.

I have a food saver. There are also plastic canisters with lids that you can seal. They also have some new bigger bags...folded to seal but about 14" wide. Good for bulky stuff. Sam's has some of the best prices on the bags but I had to get the bigger ones at Target.

Re: Best vacuum systems?

I got mine probably 15 years ago.....there is probably a better one out now! The only thing to be careful about is when you load something with lots of liquid in the bag and then the liquid sucks up the tube....makes a mess and won't seal properly. If you read the directions they explain how to a avoid this.

If I was going to replace mine it would be with this one
FoodSaverŪ V3240 Vacuum Sealing System They have a setting now you can use with liquid to keep from sucking it into the air pump.
