Re: Could one substitute Vegemite?

when I was a youngster, I was fed fish with bones, skin, etc....hated it...and it wasn't cooked properly on top of all that...I developed a high dislike for seafood. Would rather eat mud than fish.

But all that changed, when I was shown how to properly clean, prepare and cook fish.

That's the secret.....no bones....no skin....seasoned and cooked just right...it's an art.
No fishy smell either....just the aroma of perfectly spiced and cooked seafood.

Fresh fish is key !!!....that's the secret....fresh....from hook to frying pan in under 30 minutes is best....

You're missing out !!!

Boatie, perhaps if you spread Marmite on the fish you would come to like them...

That might actually work Jim, vegemite would be better if he could get hold of some..

I spread hot English mustard on mullet when I fry it to improve the taste.

Re: Could one substitute Vegemite?

Crikey guys, Vegemite / Marmite / Promite et al belongs on toast or if you really must, a SAO and cheese.

Leave it off everything else, there is no need to mess with the perfect combination.

I dunno, I regularly put Vegemite in stews/casseroles I've also been known to put it in Bolognaise sauce. If it's good enough for Adam Liaw, Jamie Oliver and Nigella Lawson to name a few, it's good enough for me )

Yep, don’t mess with hot buttered toast and Vegemite .

However.... I would not normally dare to disagree with you Wottie, but I must set you straight on the dry biscuit issue.

Sao is for cheese and tomato. You need part of the topping to be wet to be able to swallow a Sao.

Buttered Vita-Weats are for Vegemite. Knowing how to apply the right amount of pressure to produce worms without cracking the biscuit is a skill Aussie kids perfect before they can toddle.

They are nice people and can cook but ya gotta remember they are first and foremost celebrities and mainly TV celebs - they gotta be a bit out there to keep an audience. Not for me to say they aren't good enough for you but they aren't good enough for me when it comes to Vegemite. I do take advice from Nigella though when it comes to chocolate.

Ahh... Lassie, ya true blue ain't ya. Look, I'm in the same boat as you re the SAOs. I must have not explained myself proper if you thought otherwise. But I gotta accept that some others do do the SAO, cheese and Vegemite thing, crikey, they must have titanium gobs or fire hydrant jammed where the sun don't shine. Tougher cobbers than me.

Although I no longer do the worm thing with the Vita-Weats, I was a Kindy worm king back in the day and I reckon I could give some of the current crop of wormers a run for their worms.

Start the day with toast and vege....ya be a happy little Vegemite all day long

Similar but not the same. Radler is beer with sweetened grapefruit juice, and it doesn't need to come pre-packaged.
