Sacrilegious!

That would be cause for revoking Aussie citizenship

Re: Could one substitute Vegemite?

Maybe it can get reclassified as a food additive instead of whatever it is currently called

Re: Could one substitute Vegemite?

Those are traditional Vegemite recipes.

The question should be
"Could one substitute marmite?"

Answer NO! marmite is not made from beer.

I think Vegimite makes a great substitute for anti-fouling and as a deterrent for cats.

What is Marmite and how is it made? Marmite is a dark, thick, yeast extract spread. It’s made from concentrated yeast extract, which is a by-product from brewing beer. It was conceived in 1902 when the Marmite Food Company opened a small factory in Burton-on-Trent – where it still resides today.

I'm with Seaworthy Lass.

Vegimite vs. Marmite - never the twain shall meet!

I'll never forget sitting on the rail during the Coff's-Harbour-to-Gold-Coast race and someone passing Vegemite-and-White-Cheddar sandies up to us - the most delicious offshore sustanance! And a big bolster to the spirit of us who were perched on the rail for hours, with bow waves cascading over us.

(We placed first in our division though, and the press met us at the dock for our 4am finish, so that was a pretty cool experience for this Canuck gal...)

Vegemite for EVAH!

Re: Could one substitute Vegemite?

Vegemite's not branded under Kraft anymore, but for years it had that big logo on the jars, and our Aussie exchange officers were always surprised to see all the Kraft foods we had on board - they had no idea Kraft wasn't an Australian company.
I should think Vegemite and Marmite are mostly interchangeable, although the former is a bit milder in taste.

Different texture as well.. Vegimite is very thick whereas Marmite is more viscose and easier to spread.. don't need as much for the 'hit' either.
