Food storage container

Hello, we're planning our first cruising step, the ICW heading to FL keys. The Forum has been a GREAT help!

What kind / brand of food container airtight lids do you recommend? Rubbermaid, OXO, any other? Thank you

Re: Food storage container

Isn't the planning part fun?

I recommend square/rectangular containers because they don't waste any precious storage space. For the smaller ones, try to find ones that stack on each other. I've had great luck with Snap Lock or Lock n Lock.

The most important thing is the shape in my opinion. After your first two weeks on the boat, you'll have it all figured out.

Re: Food storage container

We've had good luck with the ZipLock boxes. All the same footprint, but varying in height... for portion control. Nicely stackable. Inexpensive at our local grocery.

But the first thing I did before deciding was to measure the width of our freezers, so I could do some math and work out what brand/sizes might work best for packing the most in there. I took the measurements to the grocery, rummaged through all the possibilities, picked...

Re: Food storage container

I like the small rectangular glass containers that have plastic lids that clamp down on all four sides. There are many different brands that work.
