Re: How Long Can You Survive on Beer Alone ?

How much wood could a woodchuck chuck...

Last about as long as the beer does, I suppose. If it's beer. Coors, Bud and 99% of American "beers" aren't. So survival there is the same as on water only. But Paulaner, Hacker Pschor, Erdinger, now that's a meal, as long as it's Hefeweizen. Oh yes, and Castlemaine XXXX.

Most American beer is pretty bad, but not all. There are microbreweries like Blue Point making great beer. Sam Adams makes a brew comparable to any Euro beer.

The dark ages are generally understood to refer the Early Middle Ages, which followed the decline of the Western Roman Empire, between about 500 and 1000 AD.
Due to disease, a good percentage of the population didn't live to be five years old, and the average life span was only about 30 years for a serf or a little longer for a noble. If you survived your first 5 years, you could then expect to live past your early forties.
What they did might not be our best example.

Beer is the link that makes this a perfect world. When the weather is too bad to work on the boat, you can work on the beer. Ohh the Zen of it all.
