re: How to live inexpensively in the Bahamas

I +MAY+ get to go back sometime soon; I'm not worthy of the label 'hunter' as the only things I've even seen that qualify for taking are conch (see above for lately).

I do have all the gear necessary to bring up a fish in hand (vs the opportunistic trolling which happens behind the boat), but have never seen any to actually get, so don't even carry it in the dink, let alone the water.

If I ever get tutelage, I imagine I'll start seeing them, but I have literally never seen a lobster, of any size, in the wild, e.g. ...

The Front Porch on Eleuthera was pretty cheap and really really good for a feed. That was a few years ago, hope it still is as it will be one of our destinations next lap.

Well, when it's in the davits

Our preferred dink in the Bahamas due to all the very sharp rocks is our PortaBote. We lash it to the side under way, and assemble it vertically on deck before we drop it in the water, in both cases using our spin pole hoist line.

As to the location, we'd rather be in the Bahamas, and, technically, aren't on the 'ocean' but in the ICW briefly until we head out again.

My aversion to web interfaces (bandwidth and the like, vs email client) means that I'm not here all that often, let alone mucking about with my settings on a daily basis...

Currently doing puttering on little stuff needing attention before our next trip over...

When we go, we'll provision, again, in the usual fashion. With any luck, I =MAY= find a way to provision from the sea on an intentional basis (vs the opportunistic and entirely random trolling we do under way).

I do, and I'd love to sell the thing. They are no longer made and are illegal in a lot of lakes etc here. But they are fun, but you do have to be a little careful.
