Igniter - propane, stove

Our stove igniter has given up. I have all of the data, photos etc. the US rep has so far been unable to find a replacement. I remain hopeful but self reliant.

I was passing the ACE hardware checkout and saw a bucket of USB spark igniters. More Chinese stuff but it has pushed the issue way back. I recall about $5.00. Possible E-links to the CCP?

Plug it into a USB for recharge. Pull the slide to extend the protected electrodes and it arcs blue lightning across the gap. Spring return shuts it off and hides the electrodes. This is a truly great device. Find one on line for pennies or dollars.

Here is a picture but you can pay less.

Re: Igniter - propane, stove

I actually have one of those laying around and didn’t even think of using it for lighting the stove. Keep going through the cheap grill lighters. Thanks for the suggestion!

For about the same price, you can get a kit that you should be able to retrofit into your stove. I have an old Gally maid stove for which no parts are available. I used this one:

Re: Igniter - propane, stove

One of the burners on our stove won't light with the built in igniter so we use a grill lighter. Our grill doesn't have an igniter so we always have a couple on hand. BYW they don't have to have fuel in them to light the burner so don't throw them away when they go empty. Just the spark is enough

We have an Eno stove and Eno oven, and the oven is a lot harder to light with just the spark. Seems like it needs to be a lot closer using just the spark, and it’s annoying to stick it that far in there.

Re: Igniter - propane, stove

The photo in first post shows a cheaper knock-off (oddly priced higher than a quality one).

These recharcheable arc lighters are great, but get a good quality one with safety lock switch such as these:

Re: Igniter - propane, stove

I have one similar to this...

The advantage is it requires no batteries or charging ever. The action of squeezing the handle (just once) generates the charge to create the spark.
