As you said but not only this. There is the choice and there are the limitations - even inshore - of what you can get fresh ashore. Some countries are predominantly meat, while the others are also predominantly meat but blessed with abundant and cheap fruit. A meat muncher will be happy nearly anywhere. A fruit bat only at places.

So, inshore, there is the choice and there is the local market that sorta limits and shapes the choice.

Offshore, things get a bit off hand: some boats have deep freeze (meat possible), some have just fridges (no meat but fruit and dairy will keep), others (like us) have no cool toys. No toys - no choys ;-)

Re: Normal Week of Eating

If we have a lunch ashore (Burger, local special like Mutton stew etc) it is usually a good portion. Then we will have a light snack for the evening meal. Sometimes we have Breakfast for dinner. We eat less when cruising but it does not appear to help my waistline.

Re: Normal Week of Eating

since i mainly do deliveries these days, and quite often find the fridge system not working, and no time to fix it.
i try to have these as standbys that require the minimum cooking.

fray bentos tinned pies quick n tasty and cooked in the tin.

tinned curries, beef or chicken ,cook some rice and a jar of chutney, instant feast.

instant mash potatoes,baked beans,boiled egg.

tinned smoked oysters and cream crackers.

peanut and raisin mix.

muesli in a 5liter sealed plastic bucket, uht milk quick meal for hungry crew 24/7.

chorizo(dried spanish sausage) with tomato, garlic, oregano, onion sauce and pasta.

just a few of many, not having a fridge is no reason not to eat well and healthy!!
