Re: "Pizza stone" for 2 burner Force 10 stove

We set a stone directly on the heat shield for the burner, yes it takes longer to heat up, but it also maintains temperature when the door is opened or a big cold whatever is added to the oven.

Re: "Pizza stone" for 2 burner Force 10 stove

The area in the oven of a 2 burner Force 10 oven is too small for a pizza stone. I have one sitting in my closet unused that I was hoping would fit. My hope wasn't strong enough, it just won't work.

Demonstratively untrue.

Re: "Pizza stone" for 2 burner Force 10 stove

We have a 3 burner Force 10, European version, which means that the stove interior is very shallow. We use unglazed ceramic tiles on the wire rack in its lowest position, mostly to better disperse the heat from the burner beneath the stainless heat spreader which is below the wire rack. The spreader does not function particularly well in our stove so there are hot spots and cool spots. The tile has helped significantly and also better retains heat. We lost another 1/2" of height on the inside as a result however.

A pizza stone and an oven thermometer both help considerably.

If you are going this way have the potter build the stone with ridges on the underside both right and left. These ridges allow the hot air flow under the stone when it is sitting on the heat deflector. Make the stone wide enough to ride on the supports that otherwise hold the baking rack. In this way you can remove the rack and gain a little more headroom.

I have a ceramic cutting blade on my circular saw that would quickly improve the attitude of that stone, getting it out of the closet and contributing to society.

not on a boat, but I did the same thing in my RV
First time I used the oven after, I heard a loud crack after a few minutes. It seemed the heat from teh little LP burner was too concentrated and too close... the stone snapped right in half... but it still works and is still in there today.
Had a round stone just a bit too big for the oven, so used my little wet tile saw
(something similar to this bought long ago at Home Depot or someplace for some long ago house project -)
basically the same as a small angle grinder with a water table

Re: "Pizza stone" for 2 burner Force 10 stove

So now I'll answer my own question. I got Barbeque Pizza Stones, rectangles, 4 in a box. The size was right but not the thickness for my Force 10 2 burner oven. So I glued two together and set the two glued units side by side. This works well.

Here is a Walmart product like the one I got:

Re: "Pizza stone" for 2 burner Force 10 stove

Glue is a bid concern for me. That's got to flavor anything in the oven.

Re: "Pizza stone" for 2 burner Force 10 stove

What the industry needs to do is a quality higher btu direct replacement for the Force 10. My wife and I like to cook and the Force 10 does not cut it. I am looking into Dickerson but not sure if it will fit.

Re: "Pizza stone" for 2 burner Force 10 stove

For glue, just google High temperature epoxy, so only go to 600 but others go higher. Once the glued had definitely set, more than 24 hours, I then heated up my BBQ and got rid of the smell in it before placing the glued stones in my Force 10. The stones should cure many of your Force 10 oven problems. The oven is so small that when you open it a lot of heat is lost. Also the stones even out the heat. So when the door is opened and closed the stones are still effective at restoring the lost heat faster than with no stones.
