Potable Water availability Pacific Central America

Planning to sail from Panama to Monterey CA in April/May 2023 and considering whether or not I should plan on adding a watermaker to my boat. My concern is the availability of potable waters in marinas along the way. Would like to hear from those with experience on water availability. Thanks.

Have you not heard the old standard: "Drink tequila - it's safer than the water"?

Roughly calculate your sailing days and then determine your water needs. In most marina's, you can get bottled water should you need it. A water maker is a nice feature and can give you peace of mind, however, water availability has not been an issue with proper planning.

Not a whole lot of marinas south of Mexico, and potable water is hit and miss. For example on this month's trip north I found potable water in Marina Palmira in La Paz, but not in Marina Coral in Ensenada.
