No they are not.

And they are not monitoring seafood catches either. Whether they are caught in our coastal fisheries, or abroad.

Personally I would have to say no that is not a prepper thing.
In the event of a natural disaster how would you access your money that is in the bank?
The power is out and the card reader at the store wont work. The store has its own generators but the bank doesnt.

Re: Prepper Boat Thread

Well I don't feel like a prepper or a hermit! Just a cruiser who enjoys getting right out in the wilds from time to time and not having to worry about food or power etc....
Actually quite often I find myself in a delightful anchorage with some other lucky boaters- except they have to flee back to civilisation regularly for supplies or fuel or a power boost whilst I can happily enjoy the view!
It also means that I save significant cash by only having to top up supplies when I find them at a good price.
Last time crossing the Atlantic had to make an unscheduled stop in Bermuda . It was a wonderful place but VERY expensive. Having plenty of everything aboard I could stay a month and get to know the place without damage to my bank balance.

Re: Prepper Boat Thread

Well like I said there is a confusion between a prepper and a Doomsday prepper. If you can go for months without resupplying you're a prepper. As are most Cruisers. I collect rainwater, grow vegetables and I just bought a solar oven. And one of the most important things I have is a vacuum sealer that'll keep food fresh in mason jars for literally years.

Of course not, those are just labels.
I think that is the point some are trying to make about "prepper" is its just a label, that means different things to different people.
When I hear prepper, I think some nut with his compound in the mountains storing up enough ammunition to fight off the Zombie Apocalypse, however as has been pointed out I guess the person prepping for the "Big one" in California is a prepper too?

Makes me think of that Dr Pepper commercial , are you a Pepper too

So I guess Boy Scouts are preppers ?

Re: Prepper Boat Thread

Re: who are peppers.

I think the element of intent must be considered. Their motives. I would liken people like AnnK to people with a small homestead, a few livestock, growing their own food for the most part, and off the grid. Independent or semi independent. AnnK, like many others on the water see it as a lifestyle with the ability to travel long distances.

They are all, or mostly, in a better position to ride out hard times, bad times, and disasters - manmade or natural. But that may not be what their motives and goals are about.

Boat: So many boats to choose from. Would prefer something that is not an AWB, and that is beachable...

How much samples need to be collected until you accept that, indeed, samples are being collected?

What part of "..are not" and "they don't" do you not understand?
