Re: Rum

Has anyone tried Worthy Park pot still Jamaican rum? Just started coming into the U.S., I think it’s excellent but wanted other opinions.

Rum

There is a new distillery here in a Brunswick Ga.
We went there today, but I’m not paying $85 for a bottle or rum, I’m a Sailor after all.

Re: Rum

Wow, thats more than many highly regarded rums...and Ive never heard of these guys.

I can buy Ron Zacapa Centenario here in Panamá for about $35 per 750ml bottle.

Richland drops words like "tradition" a lot on their web site, but provide no details of their history...so Im guessing there isnt much of one.

Mixed, but generally favorable reviews here:

Did they at least give you a sip?

Rum

They were giving away tastings, but straight rum in 95 degree weather just doesn’t go good for me, I admit to not being very high class, I guess I’m more of a frozen daiquiri lush type.

It is a new Distillery, no way it’s making ends meet. It was / is the hobby of a wealthy immigrant a business man, not sure where from, I assume a tax Write off?
The parent Distillery is in Richland Ga, near Ft Benning.

Well, starting up a distillery is probably a very affective way to lose money.

Wonder if he owns a boat too? 🤣

Sounds like a winner for the bustling downtown Brunswick

I didn't think the St Simons crowd would even set foot in downtown Brunswick. Oh well just shows how little I learned in marketing I guess. Or maybe it's a business plan marketed around the "slumming" crowd.

Re: Rum

I think it’s a tax write off, maybe he has a political buddy in Brunswick, or maybe Brunswick paid for it.
A St Simons group was there when I visited, yes slumming I assume.

I need to call Cruzan and have the list of the stores that keep it.

Everybody should try it one day !

Here's my vote for Havana Club 7 Year if it hasn't already been mentioned. My absolute favorite. Kills me that I can't buy it in the states.

Re: Rum

Not a Rum but is a great product and wasn't sure if anyone has seen the news today: Bartons storage building with over 9,000 barrels collapsed today in Bardstown, KY. This warehouse supplies 1792. Such a loss of a great bourbon. Thankfully, no injuries, just product loss.
