Re: Secret Sailors Food

Well, I guess so, but you'd have to sail the Roaring 40s down to Heard Island in order to start tunneling....

Re: Secret Sailors Food

Today is Marmite and toast.

I think I used it as a hiring criteria. EVERYONE in the clinics likes Marmite.
Except for Mexico. The Doctor there has never tasted it. However judging from some of the stuff he eats........ Marmite will be a shoe in.

Re: Secret Sailors Food

Monday is 'World Marmite Day'

Bovril is better for 'beef tea ' as its more soluble.

Re: Secret Sailors Food

LOL...just trying to picture the image.....

Although, technically, the mountain's name is Mt Mawson, after the Aussie polar explorer, Douglas Mawson.

It's the highest peak on the Big Ben 'complex' on Heard Island, according to renowned knower of everything, "Dr Karl"....
Tall Tales about Highest Peaks › News in Science (ABC Science)

Although as he points out, their are two higher mountains in Australia's Antarctic Territory, Mt McClintock is the greater, but 'technically' they're not on 'sovereign' territory, so Mt Mawson it is.

Not half as funny though.....

Mawson lead the Australian Antarctic Expedition of little fame, during which he almost died, but his expedition's hut on Cape Denison (windiest place in the world apparently) is slowly being patched up and preserved for posterity.

The Mawson's Huts Association recently constructed a replica of the hut, full scale, on the wharf at Constitution Dock in Hobart, where it is open as a 'museum' to fundraise for the hut's restoration.

Jon Tucker, of 'Snow Petrel', and 'Those Eco-Pirate Kids' fame was the lead builder and has been to Antarctica a cuppla times.

Getting *seriously* off topic.......

Just wanted to say that Marmite is rubbish - Vegemite is the duck's guts...!!

Even smell's like that's what it's made from...actually a yeast extract from the waste yeast from beer brewing.

So, technically, I guess you could argue that Vegemite is actually beer.

Only an Aussie would make that distinction....
