Simbo vacuum sealer n ziploc bags

For years I have been cutting the ziplock part off of Ziploc bags and vacuum sealing with them.( for those of you who are not familiar with a simbo it has a snorkel that allows you to use normal plastic bags instead of the expensive made for vacuum sealing bags ) about two years ago the heating element stopped working but I continued to use it to seal mason jars. Then it dawned on me if I closed a ziplock bag except were snorkel is and line it up with the heating element the bag would be closed! It would be a simple matter to disconnect the heating element on a unit that was working or possibly install switch so you could choose. For those of you wanting to use a simbo for vacuum sealing mason jars too you need to buy the model that has a canister attached to the side, detach the hose on it and attach hose for mason jar.

Good point but I wouldn't even cook in vacuum sealer bags. May be paranoid but better safe than sorry.

Here's a video of the symbo in action. If the heating element was disabled She wouldn't have to remove the zip lock. Also I will point out that the bags that are sold for the symbo are supposedly safe to boil in.

I just realized that you only have to press down for a second to seal the ziplock so it's probably not necessary to disable the heating element.
