Enforcement varies, but if the law says it is a firearm, you can worry about being caught with one.
That would include bb guns, air guns, those nerf guns, and standard pneumatic construction nail guns and a whole lot more. Have you got a link to these laws? I'd like to read them.

It even includes a caulking gun because that launches something... it's a gun! we're all gonna die!

Re: Spearguns

we have been to both the west side and east side of the carib - we have 3 spear guns, pole spears and slings on board and never had an issue -- BUT if the rules are no spear guns we obey - sad as we have been snorkling and seen lion fish in the eastern carib and can't kill them - all they want there is to report them - and we all know they are not going to do anything about them - i would have actually paid a small amount for a permit to carry a spear gun while snorkling for killing lion fish only -

we have the guns now in the med and no issues

just pay attention to the laws and don't break them

Just owning them breaks the laws for some countries.

In my hands, a caulking gun loaded with 5200 IS a lethal weapon. Although I am more likely to damage myself with it before anyone else (someone please bring me some debond…)
