Weekly Menus

Good Day All---
I am joining a cabin charter in late November heading out from Marigot (SXM) for about 8 days. We will be cruising around Anguilla & St. Barth's as well before returning to St. Martin.

There will be 9 of us + the charter Skipper and all shopping and meal prep will be handled by the crew/volunteers (Us). As I understand it, onboard-Breakfasts and Lunches.... with Dinners most often onshore when available.

I'm new to the Forum here and have been reading thru several threads but haven't located anything in regards to a full menu plan. I thought I would enquire if anyone recalls seeing some info that I can possibly refer to.

Thanks for any assistance!
Cheers from The Berm

Re: Weekly Menus

IME, it is very difficult to plan for menus if you don't know very well the other people aboard.

But you could prepare a list of meals, to be discussed in a meeting when preparing the victualling list. The choice depends on the galley equipment and the size of the fridge / freezer, then on the available budget, then on personal preference, for example regarding meat.

Re: Weekly Menus

While it may be hard to plan the menus, provisioning on St. Martin is perhaps the best and most priceworthy in the Caribbean. Even on St. Barths the little shopping centre offers some excellent prices.

Re: Weekly Menus

Thank you both. ^^ for your comments.

Alain, yes correct....sorry I should have elaborated. Didn't mean to plan the week in advance of meeting the group. Was looking for sample (successful) menus that perhaps others had experienced and were easy to execute. Cheers!

Re: Weekly Menus

I did a similar thing on a charter in the SVI's and my method worked extremely well. We had exactly enough food at the end. In my link I explain how to do menu's, daily rationing, and shopping lists. Let me know if you have questions, or would like the actual Excel files.

Re: Weekly Menus

When I worked as charter captain in St Martin we had a weekly menu. Dinners went as follows:
Day
1 grilled chicken
2 fish grilled/fried
3 steak
4 dinner ashore
5 skewered chicken or beef
6 shrimp in garlic and butter
7 dinner ashore
Your best bet is to by from a store called LeGrand Marche, they have a shop in Marigot, Simpson Bay, and Phillipsburg and will deliver to the boat

May the good winds always be with you
