Awww, come on, Wottie! Do you have any idea how this thread has impacted life aboard Insatiable? Let me tell you, mate, things have changed around here with all the saluting that is now required. I've got a big bruise on my forehead 'cause I'm not all that well coordinated, and I nearly swallowed my bosun's whistle piping her aboard this arvo.

If I didn't like her so much I'd arrange to have an unattended WOB event...

And thanks for all the very kind words, everyone... she deserves every one of them!

Jim

So it wasn't a devilish pre-emptive diversionary action after all - Okay, I take your word on it.

Happy saluting and piping!

Admiral Ann Cate

Here’s a glass raised to Ann Cate.

In my life I have people I truly respect for their interactions with others. And what they have given to others. Some I have met in person, others on line.

Ann you are one of those people.

Jim you too.
Take care of yourselves as I know you have done.

David.

Best of luck in your new home ashore

Happy Xmas, don't worry, be happy........meanwhile in Cornwall.....................

The whole of Cornwall has been placed into tier 4 lockdown after hundreds of Pirates returned home to Penzance to celebrate Christmas with their families.

Apparently the Arrrrrr rate has increased dramatically!

Ann, I think anyone with a modicum of intelligence would have to concur with the heartfelt comments already posted, as do I, so please fill us in on the position, some have implied that you are moving ashore, (heaven forbid) and that sailing is no longer an option, the suggestion has been put that you may be looking for crew in the future, so I guess I must ask, in the tone of a recent thread on the topic, will the crew be paying you for the experience, will you be paying them for the labour, will they have to "donate" towards the food and running costs etc.
In all seriousness I hope all is well and that you continue on your journey as an itinerant vagrant.

Re: Admiral Ann Cate

Hey, guys, thank you so very much, but I need to put things to rights.

1) We have no immediate plans to move ashore.

2) We do not plan to take on crew. We have had crew only once and it worked out well. Our crew was a dear friend and he was a huge help. He called us up and volunteered.

3) We will continue to muddle through, just the two of us, with all the adjustments we have made and probably more to come, for the foreseeable future. It has always been just the two of us, and the contract was for "as long as it is still fun."

***********

Please, you don't need to farewell me, yet. I'm still kicking. Really!

And again, thank you all for your kind words.

Ann

Glad to see all the tributes, they are all well deserved. Ann is like that wise friend you want to bounce your problems off knowing you will get the truth in a kind way.
Ann, I always read your contributions with interest.
Merry Christmas and a very happy and successful New Year.

Admiral Ann,

As the Dali Lama said, "my religion is kindness", so too with you. Kindness backed up with experience and wisdom.

We ALL appreciate you immensely and are tremendously grateful; for me, personally, you have been a warm counsellor as well.

A Very Merry Christmas to both you and Jim and best wishes for the New Year (which we all hope will be MUCH better than 2020)! And tell Jim to watch it with all that saluting...

Thank you, Hatteras, for starting this thread. Great idea!

Fair winds all, and safe harbour wherever the winds may take you in the New Year,

Indeed, breathe in love, breathe out compassion. With the idea of compassion being active, not passive.

Thank you very much for your kind wishes.

Ann

She's alive and kickin'! That's the most important.
Have a happy holiday and stay as healthy as you can.

Ann, you are a great resource of knowledge, and as an always kind and friendly member here (and very likely in real life too!) you will continue to be a great role model for me. Thank you.

Be good, hugs,

Franziska

Re: Admiral Ann Cate

While we were still cruising before Nancie and I moved ashore as she became unsafe on deck and with limited mobility, we made several design choices and adaptions with the use of Ann's advice. Ann has been a wonderful asset to our community.

I'm pleased to hear that Ann and Jim are not yet moving to shore, but I would add that the time that would come with most of us with age is not necessarily a great loss. Sure, I miss our cruising life, but were not short of adventure. Those relationship skills that make a couple successful cruisers transfer to all endeavors.
