Andamans

Hi, has anyone had experience taking pets to Andamans? We leave in two weeks with two well behaved/travelled dogs, no where so far has been a drama, but would appreciate any experiences from other cruisers who have been there?( Coming from Malaysia.)

Are the andaman Islands Indian? If so, then it's illegal to import dogs. But we had no problems with ours, officials so far have turned a blind eye to the dogs, seeming to view them as an effective security system rather than live animals!

I'm interested in your experiences in other countries, since we're heading that way also, leaving India for Thailand next month.

Thanks, Andaman is part of India, so hoping no one is too worried. We spent quite a few months in and around Phuket, Langkawi and Penang, (never a problem), coming from cocos (not allowed off the boat) and oz, (well we had weeks of prep and about $1000 tests to get permits to get them out, forget it to get them in!) That's awesome information, thanks, just what we needed to hear. We had heard that andamans are not very friendly to boaters in general, so do let us know how it goes. We'd love to go there. Our India visas expire next month, though, so we'll have to reapply at some stage. Are you coming over to India as well? I've lots to say about India when you have a little time!

Just a quick follow up, no problem with dogs going to the Andamans, we just had to sign a declaration saying we would keep them aboard. Great spot, not hard to get into at all!
