Children's Book Advice

We will have our grand daughter around a lot more, as we are moving to where they live. She loves the boat and enjoys sailing. I would like to get her some reading material to heighten her interests and knowledge. But I have no idea what or where to look for that kind of reading material.
Oh yeah, she is 11 years old and loves to read!!!!!!!!! And very smart for her age

We had this discussion a while ago on here.. there was some great advice so it may be good to try to search for the thread.

Some of the Classics... treasure Island/ Cruseo etc are not very good for modern kids!

I have a link on my blog (sig below) in the upper left hand corner with lots of sailing and piratey books for kids.
At her age I would think about not just sailing books but adventure type books in general.

Swallows & Amazons series by Arthur Ransome
The Dolphin Diaries series by Ben Baglio

I will post more as I think of them...
