Florida Vet Health Certificate

Hello all,

We have a loose plan to possibly visit the Bahamas this summer. I need to find a veterinarian who can give me a Health certificate for my cat somewhere near Miami, Fort Lauderdale area. Can any suggest someone who has done this for them?

Not offhand, but I am sure one was named a couple of years ago in a thread on one of these forums. You might try pounding on the search tools to see if you can drede it back up. Offhand, it was someone in FLL or just north, maybe in Lake Worth.

Last time we went, we used Island Veterinary Clinic on Key Biscayne. It's a couple miles from both Crandon Park Marina and No Name Harbor. There's also an Enterprise Rent-a-Car there if kitty doesn't like bike rides.

Re: Florida Vet Health Certificate

I think there is a specific form from the Bahamas government that has to be signed by the vet.
Most questions of this sort can be answered by visiting noonsite.com.

Thanks for the info Mike. Were you able to have it signed within the 48hrs? Also, how did the handle the fecal testing? Doesn't that take a few weeks to come back?

Re: Florida Vet Health Certificate

Everything that needed to be done was done at the vet, except we had them "up" on their shots before leaving the Chesapeake months before. The 48-hours (24 hours) poses a different problem, especially for us who spend the winter in the Bahamas, and weather windows for crossing the gulf stream open and close. We ask the vet not to date the form, they tell us "sorry, they are required to," but then they "forget" – but we've never heard of any cruisers having problems with forms dated a few days or even weeks before (that doesn't mean it hasn't happened or won't happen).
