Heartworm Meds

PLEASE people, if you are cruising the Caribbean, remember to keep your pet on preventive Heartworm meds all year round.

Heartworm is mosquito borne and is very prevalent in the Caribbean! And the Heartworm season lasts ALL year.

I have seen a few cruiser dogs die from heartworm infection because people didn't know that that they needed to be given Heartworm meds down here.

It's inexpensive and easy to administer....without it your dog is almost certain to become infected down here.

Cats too folks, although less susceptible to Heartworm they can become infected too.

Please don't neglect this...the Heartworm parasite is a killer.

I would add the recommendation for our snow bird friends who cruise down to Florida. The mosquitoes never sleep here...

heartworm meds can be obtained at feed and grain stores and by prescrition from vet. my mom was a registered aka kennel for breeding siberian huskies..now she judges dog shows and trains doggies in obedience. she gets straight from distributors..we lost a siberian--one of moms favorites-- her brood bitch--to heartworm. causes congestive heart failure in the animal and breathing is not easy . very difficult to watch a favorite critter die of this.
