Apologies.
He was certainly always on a lead walking through villages. See my reference to how much Muslim people hate dogs. I should have said he would lunge at the cats who would walk up to him to check out the big spotty 'cat'who had just arrived in town. In PNG he was more likely to be attacked by the village pigs than vice versa.

MV Dirona has a great blog. Their cat made it through a circumnavigation and is still at it. They stopped in Oz and NZ. I think their cat had a 10 day quarantine in NZ but was able to go to Oz from there. It is a great blog and they may be able to help if you have questions.

Thank you Paul, for clarifying that. I have a friend who lost a kitty that way and it was really, really bad. The poor kitty was snoozing in the sun on her front porch. A guy with an unleashed dog walked by and the dog took off and grabbed the kitty. The rest of the story is just too horrific to recount.

Thank you Spearfish, for that information. How neat! I will have to check it out.
