To answer MINTYSPILOT (which IMHO is a valid point)
Do you distinguish between types of lies or are all lies equally bad?
Example 1: Bloke has affair and lies to his wife (not you!)
Example 2: Bloke lies about something important to avoid hurting you
Example 3: Bloke lies about something unimportant to avoid hurting you
Example 4: Bloke lies about what his favorite food is
Example 5: Bloke "bigs" himself up to impress (still a type of lie)
Example 6: Bloke lies about past wild or shameful acts, but reformed 10 years ago and wants to forget and never discusses it
1. Bloke lacks character
2. Bloke lacks principals
3. Bloke lacks courage
4. Bloke lacks honesty
5. Bloke lacks integrity
6. Bloke lacks morality
If bloke does all of these examples, bloke is a compulsive liar to boot!

boatman-i find i am usually the individual standing in the dust....whether the male be friend or bf. always has same ending as i am not a good chooser of mates whether seamates or sexmates. kinda tired of speed bumps. reallly tired of flakes. flaking out just 2 months before a major cruising trip is foul and nasty behaviour. especially after knowing and friends for 2 yrs. wtf, hay? if i dont lie to "you", why lie to me--- treat others as you would have them treat you. works.
i dont care if FRIEND is male or female. (other-read sex- partners are male.)

The "high maintenance somebody" idiomatic meaning is not easy to catch for somebody like me. Not only English is not my native language, but in slavic languages we have something of tendency to define terms by opposite term. So I tried to define "high maintenance as opposite to "low maintenance"... Wrongly, as I can see now

The sound of "high maintenance" (simple translation) does not sound derogatory in Polish. "Low maintenance" sound derogatory for sure (in Polish).

Ther is a lot of such language problems...
Skipmac's answer does not sound sexist at all (translated to Polish)
Zee - I can assure You - Your posts, in Polish translation, sound sexist (anti-male)...

You know - my dearest Admiral has no issues... She just love cruising (as somebody here defined it - I'm not sure, this thread or another). Even if she is prone to seasickness. But she loves to wander from harbour to harbour, from anchorage to anchorage. Meeting new people. Eating out in new local places. Catch new sights. O.K. - she also like - from time to time - to moor in a place wher she can go to some spa or beauty saloon, have some facial and body treatment and so on. But I now understand it does not make her necessary "high maintenance person"

And - I like keep my Admiral happy. It makes me happy in return. So simple. Happy women have no issues, for sure...

double whiskey--i amnotsexist-0until i go to buy tires--i take advantage of the privilege i am given as a lady inthe hispanic comunity--and buy tires for less..... i dont dislike men--i adore them-- i just dont like some of the things men do to women , whether consciously or unconsciously. my former sailing artner just sabo'd or tried to-my trip by waiting until last minuet to pull nonesence and drama to convince me he has not been honest and made other plans for the cruising time we were spozed to do...soia m forced to searchin 2 months for something that usually takes much longer-- to find all new crew...wow. took me 6 months to find him and we knew each other for 2 yrs when he did his ridiculous communication withdrawal. ok his loss. folks donot have to lie--i dont care if male or female--lying is not cool. it does not give a basis for trust--eliminates it completely.
the golden rule has sooomuch merit--treat others in the manner in which you would have them treat you.
it works.
