I'll be taking my wife on her FIRST sailing trip in August, Ft Lauderdale to Galveston (weather willing). I am sooo looking forward to breaking the boat's virginity, so to speak. No tiller though ;< just have to do wheelies...

My Lister single cylinder genset is as much about noise as it is vibration and with the exhaust in close proximity, its not a place I would chose to sit on or near.

Throw a large wet towel in one side of the wash machine drum and crank it up on full spin whilst sitting atop is a far better passtime :-)

What's with the v-berth and/or aft cabin thing? There's the companionway, the foredeck, the cockpit, the tramp on a cat (now that sounds...ahem....intriguing) ...there are all sorts of interesting options on a boat!
Then there's underway, at anchor, calm water, rough water...

We were 'taking a break below' in a very isolated inlet on a calm day. Just doused the sails and let her rock (the boat I mean!) when another boat came alongside to see if we were ok. I quickly donned a shirt, stood in the companionway visible from the chest up and reassured them - as quickly as I could - that all was well.

Nice people (they wanted to chat a while) but terrible timing!
