I live in Montana and eat wild game weekly. I assume you are aware that an elk will yield 250 to 500 pounds of meat.
Where are you going to put it?
This is why I have a chest type freezer. A big one.

by all means do it, don't preach it.

In all fairness the Thread is titled "Guns ? Hunters ?"...

Dropping a dear, etc. at 250 yards, ain't nothing to be belittled about.

I personally much prefer bagging squirrels with a 338 Lapua at 600+yards.
Makes good pet food...

Fair point, but one shouldn't censor ones self just because the ticks might enjoy the fray..unused liberty really isn't liberty, is it.

I have no wish to engage you or change you wrt the gun issue, I'm just tired of the same feud breaking out on CF like a rash every 10 days or so.

Boats not interesting enough? Yeah, but I enjoy plinking stuff with my trusty 22LR while standing up in my Bell. Keeps my sense tuned, and gives me something to brag about too.
glad to see you do have a sense of humor...mines a little weird, but at least I have one...

Ya I'm aware, born and raised on a farm. I've been harvesting my own meat (moose/deer/beef/chicken/pork) since i was 10 years old.

500lbs of meat from an elk?.....doubtful I'm ever going to find one of those bad boys.

I just pressure can whatever i can fit onboard, and freeze the rest at home or give to friends and family.

Compared to buying it in plastic wrap at the grocery store, its definitely a much more spiritual affair.

Sure I've made 250 yard shots before, but its a different ball game during bow season. I've never killed an animal further than 30 yards with my bow.

.....also I'm a Canadian so the 9mm doesn't fly up here, Im more of a .270win kinda guy.
