1973 Morgan OI - Fuel shut off choke won’t close

I’m having trouble getting my choke to pull up. I the boat has set for a few months w no use. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I’ve tried 2 days of PB blaster w no results
Cheers,

Paul

Check where the cable pulls on the carburator and detach the cable. Set choke manually on the engine in the desired position. Replace choke cable if impossible to get it moving.

Unless somehow you moved it recently and put a crimp/hard bend in it, probably time to buy a new cable.

I'm fairly certain this is what you are describing and luckily they aren't too expensive.

Thank you for the replies. I may have missed spoken when I said this was a choke cable issue. This is a Perkins vote 4108 diesel and has fuel injectors. This is the fuel shut off valve to kill the motor when you want to turn it off or to open up the fuel when you want to start it.

A diesel is what I thought you had in your Morgan. Do you have a pull-push type cable like the one I linked previously to cut the fuel off?

That’s exactly what I was referring to Bill. I’m sorry I didn’t see the letters in blue that were the link to watch you were describing. I was hoping to repair this because I have to be off the boat tomorrow and won’t be back for a while. It looks like installing one of these may be a somewhat difficult.

I really appreciate your help. Hope you have a great day.
Cheers.

Sorry, I never know if it is better to use the embedded hyperlink or just paste in the hyperlink so it is plain as day.

We have one of these on our boat and it wasn't too hard to install. Key is to get the appropriate length cable and secondly avoid hard bends. Once installed, you will wonder why you didn't replace it sooner.

Also wanted to mention that whenever I go back to look at the link you sent to the cable, it just shows up as normal text. That’s beyond the scope of my text to know why a hyperlink would do that, but it may be because I’m on my phone I appreciate your help.

Thanks. Good feed back on the the embedded hyperlink. Going forward I'll just do the old school way with the cut and paste hyperlinks.

Re: 1973 Morgan OI - Fuel shut off choke won’t close

In almost all cases in an emergency you can just disconnect the cable and work the fuel cutoff lever manually. They usually have a spring return to the "Run" position.

Depending on the layout of your engine and access to it, this might be a bit annoying or totally impractical...
