    Aloha Keao:

I'm over on the Kona side at Honokohau. A little drier over here though don't think the sailing is better. Enjoyed my stay in Radio Bay last summer though the security precautions got old in a hurry. Was going to leave my boat at Suisan as they had a couple of side tie slips. The locals scared me saying there was a lot theft problems with theft there. One of the security at the commercial harbor actually asked if I was crazy thinking of Suisan. I was looking forward to spending more time exploring Hilo. Have lived here 30 years and have spent more time in Honolulu, by far, than in Hilo. Does it rain in Hilo??

It's always a crap shoot sailing in the winter. Weather isn't that big a deal except it's a close reach to a beat going south. Any weather is very unpleasant in those condtions. Have been thinking of hitting the line Islands in the fall after I finish a haul out and getting rid of all the leaks.

hi Roverhi, You seem pretty knowledgeable about crossing to hawaii. I've done the crossing to Fanning from Cabo once last year during feb. and Panama to Marquesas once a couple of years ago. both times have been in winter and i was wondering what your opinion for this winter crossing would be considering it's a la nina year. weather in hilo is pretty morbid. that's where i live. I think u live here so if your in hilo maybe we can meet up sometime?
