Having the galley like this is rare in the older boats with the "cruising interior" and this kind of beam, but it is really the best set-up IMO. (Most have the galley at the companionway and then have larger hatches under cockpit seats.) It is the most efficient use of space and I can lean against one side and jam my feet against the other to work while sailing. And I really don't need such large hatches under the cockpit.
