holy cow... grief to think that "ready to go" used to mean something.
ok, only have a minute of internet left but want you to know that i'm headed south, leaving the day after tomorrow, found a solution. like a BRAVE soul girl (like i used to be so long ago), i'm getting back out there! fingers crossed all will work out well. i think i'll be good. feel more confident now. sending you a big hug and a kiss, good man! you are such a good friend.

Oh.. when I said they were leaving I meant home to the UK.. leaving me to clear up the crap.
I charge by mileage, if it was a day rate that would be another matter..

    Hi Em,
My Greece delivery did not happen. The boat was a shambles, tools strewn around the galley floor and worktop with bits of ply cutoffs, gear and boxes piled shoulder high in the saloon with just the walkway kinda clear, the headsail crumpled in the forecabin space floor getting kicked and trampled as the owner stomped back and forth installing a new battery for the bow thruster. The aft cabin had loose gear all around except on the bed.. it was a mess despite him telling me she was ready to sail. This was at 8pm Wens night and he told me they were leaving on Friday morning.
Now the owners kicking up because I deducted the travel costs to the boat from the deposit when I refunded it. He's lucky I did not deduct my return costs and bill for time wasted.. especially as I had knocked back a transat from Martinique to Gib because of the date conflict, it had to be in the Med by April.
Still.. I guess that's life in this game.
Good luck with finding a boat kiddo..

hey good man! just saw this!!!

not much sailing in the end, just boat works, still not done and the captain is not happy, saying he's decided to sell the boat! he might haul tail it back to the states any day now. i scouted for crewing but am feeling like mush... might fly back over. do you have a delivery on the near horizon? if so, send me a pm, so i get an email. i'm free until end june

oh and for mal de mer, i found something that works!!!!
  8. boatman61
Hey Em.. glad you had a good time and the Mal de Mer did not strike..
As a matter of curiosity what was the boat and how big, Cat or Mono.???
    Which islands did you visit..
I was looking at flights to Martinique last month when working out a quote and Air France from Paris looked pretty reasonable, mind, that was before Ukraine kicked off.
As to the delivery, arrive Cartagena Wens 16th but looking at the long term forecast for Fri, Sat n Sunday it looks pretty crap for going East with head winds and sea's.. hope systems move through faster than forecast.
Once again, glad you've a grin on your face..
    Hugz back atchya..

YO DUDE! i had a blast! such a blast. inspire of everything that went wrong. but you know me, i just smile away! got along well with the folk too! and hey, i didn't get seasick at all, just queasy ONCE! i got my sealegs and been walking the drunk ever since - don't want to lose them! yes, really am happy. may go back next month, meet up farther south with the group. might blow more on tickets... (grief, expensive!). but i know i should! life starts with every new day!

hope all is going well for your delivery. you should be out there by now. will be doing carpentry work/teak work in port napoleon for a couple weeks (on the vagabond) if ever you swing by. sending you onion toast and a big tall hug!

bet you do miss your bike. i never did learn to drive a motorcycle (left/right gears/gas thing! oh dear) but they sure are fun! the bolthole... yes looking for an old lady place in case i wind up old (never know) and, in the meantime, be let while away. have considered the southern opportunities but have also seen what projects they are. looking for something small, not too far from my squirrels. as for the boat... geez, for the moment it seems that all the good-condition/fairly-priced boats are in the UK. still a fortnight quarantine for me. hoping this curtain will drop and i can pop over. still looking
