    Hello,

I noticed a comment you made about ice in Chesapeake City and if time permits, I was hoping you could provide additional comments about ice and currents in the canal and the bay. I have sailed down from NYC but have never made the trip up the bay and through to the Delaware River. I am looking at buying a boat in lower Maryland and was unsure if I should go on the outside or on the inside.

What is the ice like on the canal and bay right now? If it is bad, when is it likely to allow a decent passage?

Does the Chesapeake Bay have a significant current? Also, is the Chesapeake, say the upper two thirds, affected by the tide? The Hudson can experience a tide up to 150 miles up the river and was wondering the the same is true for the Chesapeake.

Finally, any thoughts you may have about sailing up the Chesapeake would be greatly appreciated.

    Best Regards,

    Dave Borgioli
