Thank you so much for writing. I did talk to Bill and am on the Yahoo forum, as well.
It has been eye opening, to say the least. The options for finding a SM are so much better in France. Right now, there are only 2 officially listed for sale in the USA (where I live). We are thinking of going to France next summer and looking at the SMs on the market. There are a few from the early '90s that look like good deals. I'll keep following you on YouTube! Fair winds.

Hey there, One of the reasons we gravitated to the SM is that they are never chartered and have great bones. Meaning that the owners usually did a good job keeping them up and sailing around the world with them. So you'll find some price variation based on how updated they are. But they are all pretty much worth what they're asking. 1991 was definitely on the cheaper side ...a 2000 series or much younger one would have cost 50-75% more. Basically I bought the second cheapest one I could find, and it was still ready to roll. There's a guy who is an amel expert you can contact. He runs an Amel training school but also does remote surveys. For 500 bucks, when I went to visit the SMs, I took hundreds of photos that he requested, and diagnosed problems from his house in Texas. An absolute savant when it comes to these boats. Name's Bill Rouse, google that and/or Amel School. He ain't cheap, but he's the best, and he's pretty fair. Anyway, hope you find one! They are AMAZING boats

    Hey Sojourner,

Hope all is well with you.

I just came across a post you made an noticed you are on Super Maramu. I then saw you had a YouTube channel and just watched your vids (also subscribed ) My partner and I live in the States and are currently looking for a Super Maramu ourselves. I know I am a complete stranger and messaging you privately, but was hoping you could answer a quick question. Can you give me a rough idea of how much you paid for your 1991 Super Maramu and a rough idea of how much you spent refitting the boat (if you did). I am trying to get better at estimating the value of other Super Maramus on the market and their prices are all over the place. If you don't want to share that info, I understand. Just wanted to take a shot. Happy sailing and looking forward to seeing your travels.

    Best,

    x_HoldFast_x
