I am just sitting here in Playa Del Carmen, wondering how your travels are unfolding recently? Did you meet someone interesting? Where in the world are you having a good time now?
    Sincerely, KCee

What is a palapa house? What kind of restaurant?

Lorts of turmoil still in SA, many of the white folks I knew were preparing to bail out or already had, I met several folks who had governemnt positions, they planned to stay and work until theycould retire, but they had bought sailboats, most of the boats were not great boats, just so they would have the means to flee if things got too ugly, by the same token, many of the black folks were thinking things were pretty rosy!

I have spent very little time in Mexico, maybe a day or two in the more popular border towns. Many cruisers say it is lovely!

Have you any photos of you and your daughter to share? A photo of the retaraunt would be nice as well, I used to be a real estate appraiser so building photos mean more to me than some folks!

    Tom

I am Canadian and returned to TO after my two years in SA. I loved the tropics so much turned around and visited here, Mexico, a few years later, eventually moving here ten years ago, to raise my daughter... I had put a palapa house on my property and the city swallowed me up, making a business there a better idea.
I opened a restaurant last summer, and closed it when the swine flu propaganda hit last June. I will open again soon, but really want to rent it out to afford a modest retirement. It's close.
Lots of fantastic stories from SA, I was there when Mandela released, and that whole political switch over... also here in Mexico lots going on...

Thanks fo saying hello! How did you get from the Land Down Under to Mexico, there must be a good story or two there! I spent some time in Richards bay in 2007, about two months I think. I wouldhave enjoyed it more if i had had more cash at that time! .. I am not certain I understand the restaurant thing, do you actually have a restaurant that you are operating, or do you have a building you are trying to find a tenant for?

Just getting the hang of this... you sound like a very interesting person... I am a single mom at 49 living in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, just trying to rent out my restaurant and start my sailing dream, or close to it, as I have a ten year old daughter, still a joy, who I would like to join me in my adventures... i am interested in having a friend like you to chat with, and share stories, you have already done what I want to do! i lived in Durban for a year and met many sailors in Richards Bay where I got "the itch" seventeen years ago to sail the world....
