Sorry to have taken a year to reply. The Lazy Mate system I built has rings on the topping lift and cord with stopper balls to each eyelet on the main, but frankly I don't like the system at all. Very hard to get a neat fold of the main onto the boom. I'm going to replace it with a more conventioanl Lazy Jack system andarrange to have the Lazy Jacks out of the way when hauling up the main.

Hi - I saw your post about the Lazy Mate system. I had planned to install one, as my neighbor had a Catalina with Lazy Mate and loved it. However, I had to leave on my cruise south (Seattle to Mexico, so far) before installing it. I'm looking online, and there isn't a lot of info, but I'm seeing things about stopper balls and elastic chord. I'm curious how you made yours, can it be as simple as rings over your topping lift and some short of light line attached to the them and the Leach? We started playing with putting one a while back but had issues with the sail cover. I'm having a new sail cover made with room to accommodate the rings stacking up on the topping lift, so I'm ready to try again. Any detailed description of your system would be most appreciated!

    Thanks-

    Erlin
