    I had no background in boating until I hired a cruiser for one week on the Canal du Midi in 2014. It was a life changing experience as I then decided I would buy a boat when I retired and travel in Europe's inland waters for 4 or 5 months each year. I retired in 2016 and bought my boat the same year. Apart from 2 Covid restricted years I have spent time on my boat each year and still have lots to learn.
