    hi atoll,
remember me? you gave me some great advice on restoring my tinnie in phuket a while back and it came up great in the end so thanks a lot for that.
now from your posts i have read in many threads on this forum you probably will be able to give me some really good advice again as by the sounds of it you have sailed all over the globe !
i am looking at buying a boat in the bahamas and sailing it back to thailand next month, being mid august 2011.have you sailed this route before ? if so can you advise me on the best route for that time of year please and any other advice you may have will be greatly appreciated.

Astro here. I was a jerk to you a couple months ago on that wood/grp thing. Thought you were taking a poke at me for being a rookie. Turns out it was the best advice I got. Sorry, and thanx for the tip.

I'm glad I saw your post about leaving Thailand just in time before the thread disappeared. At least I think it's gone. In my stats I can't find any post I made there.

Oh well, it would be a mistake to let that get to me.

You're experience during the tsunami is proof enough to me that we make our own destiny by our actions.

Many years ago I knew a young high school football player that said his goal was to knock someone down so they couldn't get up. He said he wanted to hurt someone and that's the only reason he played.

Less than a month later he crashed his truck into the end of a bridge guard rail. It penetrated the cab and cleanly removed his right leg.

thats a mighty fine ali dinghy you have there pal ! you have a little bit more aluminum than i do to take care of !
firstly thanks for the advice !
i live in thailand and finding a stainless wire brush may be very difficult.if i can not find one what problems will steel or brass create ?
also which one of those solutions is most common and most likely to be available here ?
    thanks again.

Thanks for the compliment to the boat My draft is somewhere between 8' and 8.5', so it's a bit hard finding haulouts here, as well as island hopping into the many beautiful little coves.

Still, I love it here. Just need a big banca boat that I can sling up on the port side when underway, then I'm 100% mobile My current dinghy just doesn't cut it.
