    Biography
    I grew up in San Rafael, CA and learned sailing in my Rhodes 19 on SF Bay. After graduating UC Berkeley I studied biochemistry at Cornell Medical in NYC. Crewed weekends on Shields for Buss Hovey in Oyster Bay. I started ocean racing with Jim Baldwin on Sorcery I and II. Met my bride Linda of 45 years thanks to Sorcery on a NYYC Cruise. After Sorcery I raced with Ted Turner on American Eagle and Running Tide. Ted gave me the moniker Boston Blackie.
